These Terms are a binding contract between you and Resume Bestie ("Resume Bestie," "we," "our," or "us"). Read them carefully. By creating an account or using the Service you confirm you have read and agree to be bound by them.
1. Definitions
- Service — the Resume Bestie website, web app, mobile experiences, AI features, and any related tools or APIs.
- Account — the credentials and profile you create to access the Service.
- Content — anything you submit, upload, generate, or store via the Service (resumes, job descriptions, cover letters, notes, etc.).
- Paid Plan — any subscription tier other than Free (currently Individual, Family, and Career Pro, plus legacy Starter, Pro, and Review for grandfathered accounts).
- Family Plan — a Paid Plan that allows up to three (3) job seekers to share a single subscription. The person who purchases the subscription is the "Account Holder" and is responsible for invited members.
2. Eligibility & Age
You must be at least 18 years old to create or use an account. By creating an account you represent that you are an adult capable of entering into a binding contract. The Service is not directed to and may not be used by anyone under 18. Resume Bestie does not knowingly collect personal information directly from anyone under 18; if we learn that we have, we will delete it.
Parental responsibility for family profiles. When an adult account holder builds a resume for a family member (including any person under 18), the adult is the only person who may operate the Service. The adult, not the family member, completes the intake, enters information, reviews AI output, and decides what to send to employers, schools, or third parties. The adult account holder represents and warrants that (a) they are the parent or legal guardian of any family member whose information they enter, (b) they have the right and authority to provide that information to us for the purpose of generating a resume, (c) the information is accurate, (d) they will review every AI-generated suggestion before any use, and (e) they will not allow the family member to access the account, the Service, or any AI feature. The adult account holder is solely responsible and liable for every profile under their account and for any content submitted about a third party. 3. Your Account
You agree to (a) provide accurate sign-up information, (b) keep your password and any access tokens confidential, (c) be responsible for all activity that occurs under your Account, and (d) notify us promptly at support@resumebestie.com of any unauthorized use. We may suspend or terminate Accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or pose a security risk.
4. The Service
Resume Bestie provides AI-assisted tools for creating, tailoring, scoring, and exporting resumes and related career documents, generating cover letters, and preparing for interviews. Features available depend on your plan and may change. We may add, modify, or remove features at any time. We will use reasonable efforts to maintain uptime but do not promise the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
5. Subscriptions, Billing, and Auto-Renewal
Paid Plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis at the price displayed at checkout. Your subscription automatically renews each cycle until you cancel. You authorize us and our payment processor (Stripe) to charge your stored payment method. Taxes are calculated based on your billing address. Price changes will be communicated by email at least 14 days before the next renewal; continued use after the change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
You can cancel at any time from your billing settings; cancellation stops future renewals but does not retroactively refund the current cycle. See our Refund Policy for the limited circumstances under which refunds are issued.
5a. Family Plan
The Family Plan is a single account owned by one adult Account Holder (18+). The Account Holder may create up to two additional profiles within that account for family members, for a total of three profiles on one login. Additional profiles do not have their own login, password, or billing — they exist only inside the Account Holder's account, and the Account Holder controls all data, resumes, and settings under each profile. The Account Holder is the sole legal user of the account, the sole payer of record, and is solely responsible for the conduct of every profile created under their account, including compliance with these Terms and applicable laws. If a profile represents a person under 18, the Account Holder represents that they are that person's parent or legal guardian and consents to our collection and processing of that profile's resume information. Deleting the Family Plan account, or any individual profile within it, permanently deletes the associated resume data. If the Family Plan is cancelled or downgraded, the account remains accessible but additional profiles become read-only at the end of the current billing cycle and may be removed.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to: (a) misuse the Service or interfere with its operation, security, or other users; (b) submit unlawful, defamatory, infringing, hateful, or fraudulent Content; (c) attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, scrape at scale, or extract underlying models; (d) use the Service to create deceptive or materially false representations about yourself or others; (e) use it to discriminate in employment in violation of applicable law; or (f) resell, sublicense, or build a competing product on top of the Service without our written permission.
7. AI-Generated Content
The Service uses third-party large language models (currently provided through our AI Gateway) to generate suggestions. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or biased. You are solely responsible for reviewing, fact-checking, and editing every suggestion before submitting documents to employers, recruiters, or any third party. Do not submit any document you have not personally reviewed. See our AI Agreement for full details on how AI is used, including the fact that we do not allow your Content to be used to train third-party foundation models.
8. Your Content
You retain ownership of your Content. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, transmit, format, and display your Content solely to operate, secure, and improve the Service for you. We do not sell your Content and do not share it with advertisers. Aggregated and de-identified usage statistics may be used to improve the Service.
9. Intellectual Property
All rights in the Service, including software, design, trademarks, and the underlying templates (other than your Content), are owned by Resume Bestie or its licensors. We grant you a personal, limited, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.
10. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with third-party providers (e.g., Stripe for payments, our AI Gateway for AI, and Supabase for data storage and authentication). Your use of those services is subject to their terms. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.
11. Disclaimer
The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE." We do not guarantee employment, interviews, callbacks, or any other outcome. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranties arising from course of dealing or trade usage.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD $100. In no event are we liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, or lost data.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Resume Bestie and its officers, employees, and agents from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of (a) your Content, (b) your use of the Service, (c) your breach of these Terms, (d) any information you enter about a third party (including a family member), or (e) any allegation that a person under 18 used your account.
14. Termination
You may cancel your subscription and delete your Account at any time from your settings. We may suspend or terminate your access for breach of these Terms, suspected fraud, abuse, or to comply with law. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases. Sections that by their nature should survive (e.g., 8, 9, 11–13, 15, 17) will survive.
15. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Except for claims for injunctive relief, any dispute will first be resolved through good-faith negotiation, and failing that through binding arbitration on an individual basis under the rules of the American Arbitration Association seated in Fulton County, Georgia. You waive any right to participate in a class action. Where arbitration is not available, exclusive venue is the state and federal courts of Fulton County, Georgia.
16. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
17. Miscellaneous
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, AI Agreement, Cookie Policy, Refund Policy, and (where applicable) the Data Processing Agreement, form the entire agreement between you and Resume Bestie regarding the Service. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
